great magazine, terrible to non-existent subscription support
I think Time Out New York is a great publication but their non-existent support for digital subscribers is unacceptable. When working, this app is great.
I started subscribing to TIme Out New York magazine in mid September, 2012 and had no problems until yesterday. I am currently signed up for a yearly subscription, however the latest edition which should have been released on Thursday, Oct 4, 2012, didnt show up as an available download on my devices until Friday, October 5, 2012 (this is a weekly magazine that publishes social and entertainment events so it is time-sensitive and one day does make a difference). Their app doesnt appear to be recognizing my subscription any longer and is now requesting that I pay for the current issue on top of the $24.99 I have already paid.
I called Time Out New York and an employee referred me to Apple even though it should really be an issue for their subscription department. I was offered no help within their organization and that was the end of any semblance of support from TIme Out New York. Apple Care has been attentive and helpful so far, but there is no solution yet.
Until the bugs are fixed and better subscriber support is provided by Time Out, its better to just use their website which is updated frequently and is free. Again, I think this magazine is a great publication, but where print media and the number of legitimate subscribers are consistenly diminishing, they really need to step up their digital services and support.
